Full Roster of gallery shows to thematically coincide with Mainstage Productions
MILLBURN, NJ -- Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Michael Stotts-Managing Director) is proud to announce the upcoming season of The Ga llery at Paper Mill in the Renee Foosaner Art Gallery. The four exhibitions have been designed to thematically compliment the theater’s mainstage productions, and there will be a separate open call for each show.
“Paper Mill is thrilled to continue the curated art exhibitions we began this year. The shows succeeded in all the ways we had hoped,” says Mike Stotts. “Our audiences love it, and the artists benefit from the exposure we can provide. This year we featured nine fantastic local artists and look forward to continuing to showcase so many more.”
“Our newly-appointed Gallery Advisory Council along with the gallery’s curator Jesus Nunez of J. Nunez has come up with a full season of thematically relevant shows that will bring us a wide variety of artistic styles and cultural influences. We very much look forward to welcoming new artists into the Paper Mill family,” adds Mark Hoebee.
Paper Mill’s mainstage productions and our desire to amplify the stories of BIPOC artists and participate in global heritage celebrations, such as Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month and Black History Month, have helped inspire our exhibit themes. We will open the season with MOVEMENT concurrently with On Your Feet (the Story of Gloria Estefan) and will celebrate Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month. The second show LIGHT will take place over the Holidays and during Paper Mill’s production of The Sound of Music. HERO will be the show open concurrently with Disney’s Hercules and Black History Month. The final show of the season will be STREET in tandem with Murder on the Orient Express and Rent, as well as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage and Pride Months.
The Gallery at Paper Mill is located on the mezzanine level and can be enjoyed by patrons attending a performance or be visited daily from 12:00PM–6:00PM with no ticket required.

Guidelines
Artist must live or work in the State of New Jersey.
Artists who identify as BIPOC are encouraged to apply to all open calls. Specifically, in tandem with PMP Celebrates: Black History Month, Black artists are highly encouraged to apply for HERO.
All painting media, sculpture, photography, drawing and mixed media are eligible.
All work must be “hang ready” – framed, with wires (no cleats).
All accepted artists will be required to sign a contract with the Paper Mill.
We will not accept nudes or art with overt sexual, religious or political content.
Work may be for sale (but does not have to be) and can be sold while in the show.
Any work displayed is displayed at the risk of the artist and not the Paper Mill.
Delivery, installation, de-installation, and shipping of the art will be the responsibility of the artist.
Acceptance into this program is at the discretion of Paper Mill’s Curatorial Committee and leadership. A curatorial committee comprised of local arts professionals has been formed to make final selections.
There will be no charge to participate in this program (beyond a $30 fee to apply) and no commission will be taken on sales. Paper Mill will not participate in the sale of art. Artist contact information will be provided. All fees collected during the Call for Artists will help to offset the cost of promoting and maintaining The Gallery at Paper Mill.
Submissions should be sent via the website artcall.org. Please include a 50-100 word bio and contact information. Please note if selected we will need a headshot of 300dpi or better for printed materials.
